Back European Roma Holocaust Memorial Day

commemorative ceremony on the occasion of the European Roma Holocaust Memorial Day on 2 August 2019 at noon
European Roma Holocaust Memorial Day

The Roma commemorate this tragedy on 2 August, the date on which over 3,000 Roma men, women and children were exterminated in gas chamber V of the "Zigeunerlager BIII" at Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1944.  The extermination of Roma during the Second World War is by far the greatest tragedy in Roma history.

There will be addresses in front of the “Human Rights” sculpture by:

Matjaz Gruden, Director of Democratic Participation, Council of Europe

Sébastien Potaufeu, Deputy Permanent Representative of France to the Council of Europe, on behalf of the French Presidency of the Committee of Ministers
