Project: LËTZEBUERG 2023 - YOUTH POLITICAL PARTICIPATION PROJECT

Organisation:ALDIC - Association Luxembourgeois Pour Le Dialogue Interculturel

 About the project

In view of the communal and legislative elections that will take place in Luxembourg in June 2023, we plan to train a group of young people to become references for young people in the field of youth participation in general and especially youth political participation. This group of young people will be trained and supported to create an information and awareness-raising service on participation for young people aged between 17 and 34 years old. The group will be made up of several young people from different backgrounds speaking a variety of languages. They will be recruited from our partner schools and networks. The service that should be set will be active mainly on social networks but also via telephone.

The group of trained young people will inform their peers about the national electoral process and respond to all questions sent by young people. They will also raise awareness about the importance of youth political participation and its link to democracy. This project aims to make young people aware of the importance of participation in general and in politics, and to encourage them to do so by providing them with tailored information brought by youngsters. It is expected to reach an improvement in the participation rates of young people in the next municipal and legislative elections in Luxembourg. This makes a considerable contribution to democracy.

Regarding the group of young people who will be trained and supported, we expect to empower the participants and involve them so that they have control over all issues related to the (political) participation of young people by getting all the necessary knowledge and skills.
