The Bureau of the Lisbon Recognition Convention Committee held its meeting on the 15 September 2026 in Paris.
The meeting served to advance preparations for a new monitoring exercise on substantial differences. The exercise will assess how Contracting Parties apply this fundamental principle of the Convention and support fair recognition practices.
The Bureau also discussed cooperation between the Lisbon Recognition Convention and the Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education. It underlined that the Global and Regional Conventions have equivalent status and complementary roles, with each contributing to fair and transparent recognition within its respective framework.
Members welcomed recent communication and outreach activities, particularly the first Lisbon Recognition Convention Bureau newsletter and the interviews with the Bureau member and proposed further engagement with the ENIC-NARIC Networks and higher education stakeholders.
The Bureau also began preparations to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Lisbon Recognition Convention in 2027, highlighting its lasting contribution to fair recognition and academic mobility.
