Within the framework of the Sida funded project Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania*, Council of Europe resources on democratic citizenship education have been translated into Albanian and are now being distributed to the Albanian education community.

Over a thousand hard copies of 10 digital lesson plans that were distributed by the project team as a part of the project’s visibility and teacher support action, were specifically designed to help teachers organise lessons on important subjects brought to light during the COVID-19 pandemic, for example on topics such as staying safe online, adopting responsible civic behaviour, combating on-line hate speech and more.

Another 600 copies of the Brochure for Parents: Some Steps to Help Your Child Become a Digital Citizen designed to support parents in advancing their own personal experience as a citizen in order to guide their children on their path towards active digital citizenship were distributed as well.

In addition to these practical materials, copies of assessments reports on democratic citizenship education undertaken by the project are also being distributed through the Regional and Local Education Directories, student parliaments, teachers and parents’ network, civil society organisations (CSOs) and pilot schools, which are all actively engaged in the project implementation. All these resources are now also available digitally and free-of-charge on the website of the Council of Europe Office in Tirana.

According to the initial feedback received from the beneficiary and educational practitioners, parents find the publications useful and teachers have already started incorporating the lessons plans in their daily work.
