The second volume of the “Educating for a video game culture” – Keep on Playing, Keep on Growing –  shows that video games are not just about fun and entertainment, but they can also play a meaningful role in how young people learn to be responsible digital citizens. The publication builds on the first volume tracing a trajectory from the realm of personal well-being, through creative and social dimensions

of learning and cultural participation, to the larger challenges like climate change, migration, and economic structures.

Bringing together a variety of expert voices, the publication highlights how video games are not merely entertainment, but dynamic environments where creativity, learning, empathy, creative thinking, and civic engagement are constantly explored. The authors call for a fresh approach to education and policy, one that recognizes games as spaces where young people practice democracy, learn about other cultures, and develop skills for life. They recommend better teacher training, stronger partnerships with the game industry, and embracing new technologies to help prepare future generations.

Above all, the message is clear: video games are more than a pastime. They are a key part of innovation and cultural landscape and a powerful tool for teaching creativity, empathy, and responsibility in today’s digital world.
