The CDADI holds its 8th plenary meeting on 5-7 December 2023

The Steering Committee on Anti-Discrimination, Diversity and Inclusion (CDADI) will hold its 8th plenary meeting in Strasbourg on 5-7 December 2023.

It is expected that the CDADI will finalise all deliverables it was tasked to prepare during the current biennium, including two draft Committee of Ministers’ recommendations.

The first draft recommendation on combating hate crime was already approved in a joint session with the European Committee for Crime Problems (CDPC), which was organised as part of the 8th CDADI meeting on 21 November.

During the in-person meeting on 5-7 December, it is also planned to approve the draft Committee of Ministers recommendation on equality for Roma and Traveller women and girls and to adopt its Explanatory memorandum.

Several other deliverables prepared by the  Committee of Experts on Roma and Traveller Issues (ADI-ROM), the  Committee of Experts on Intercultural Integration of Migrants (ADI-INT) and the CDADI working group on sexual orientation and gender identity will be advanced, and some finalised:

  • The CDADI will discuss the outline for a Committee of Ministers Recommendation on the equality of rights for intersex people and provide guidance to the new Committee on Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression and Sex Characteristics, which was set up by the Committee of Ministers with effect from 1 January 2024 and tasked with the preparation of this Recommendation;
  • It is foreseen to adopt a Compendium of Good practices on intercultural integration and multilevel governance;
  • The CDADI will take note of the progress made and provide further guidance for the finalisation of the Feasibility study on desegregation and inclusion policies and practices in the field of education of Roma and Traveller children.

Exchanges of views will be held with the Special Representative of the Secretary General on Migration and Refugees, Leyla KAYACIK and the Chair of the Committee of Experts of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages (COMEX), Aleksandra OSZMIAŃSKA-PAGETT.
