Serbian Judicial Academy’s initial training beneficiaries are being equipped with practical knowledge on how to apply the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) in domestic courts. In cooperation with the Judicial Academy of the Republic of Serbia, the joint European Union and Council of Europe action Strengthening human rights protection in Serbia, organised the first in a series of workshops for Judicial Academy’s initial training beneficiaries on the ECHR application.
Facilitated by the advisor of the Supreme Court of Serbia who spent six months at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) with the action’s support, the workshops aim to share first-hand insights into ECtHR case law.
The training sessions will cover six selected articles (3, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 14) of the European Convention and will serve as a practical addition to the HELP course “Introduction to the European Court of Human Rights”, which was previously adapted by the action and introduced as a compulsory course for initial training beneficiaries.
These events are a part of the ongoing efforts of the action "Strengthening human rights protection in Serbia" to provide assistance to the state institutions in implementing European Convention on Human Rights and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights at the domestic level through enhancing capacities of Serbian legal professionals.
The action is a part of the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye”, implemented by the Council of Europe.
