Project "Support for the Implementation of Judicial Reform in Serbia" supported the first meeting of the Working Group for drafting Rulebook on case weighting criteria that took place on Silver Lake, August 28-30, 2023. The High Prosecutorial Council formed a broad working group comprised of members of HPC, representatives of the professional associations and public prosecutors from different levels of prosecutors’ offices in Serbia.

Based on a draft prepared by CoE experts, the Working Group developed comprehensive draft Rulebook including scope of the rulebook, defining purpose of case weighting, methodology for case weighting and the use of software. The case weighting criteria and methodology for case weighting in different types and levels of prosecutor’s offices were defined, as well as special rules for prosecutors’ offices of special competence.

The Rulebook on case weighting criteria entails a part of the set of implementing bylaws which are all highly important in setting up a new and improved prosecutorial system. This bylaw in conjunction with Rulebooks on criteria for election of public prosecutors, Rulebook on evaluation of work of public prosecutors form a set of rules that manage prosecutors’ work and career path in line with the new laws. Working group will continue its work on final draft of the rulebook with continued support of the "Support for the Implementation of Judicial Reform in Serbia" project.
