Ahead of the European Anti-trafficking Day - 18 October,  civil society organisations Child Rights Centre and Atina launched the digital prevention platform intended for children and youth, called “How to protect yourself from human trafficking”.  The platform was created within the awareness raising campaign on trafficking in children in Serbia, which was implemented through a grant awarded by the joint European Union and Council of Europe action “Preventing and combating trafficking in human beings in Serbia”.

In Serbia, 24 out of 57 identified victims of trafficking in 2020 were children. In the period January- September 2021, 9 out of 32 identified victims of trafficking were children. Because of the high number of child victims of trafficking, the platform was designed with the aim to inform children and youth on what is trafficking, how to recognise risks and potential victims, how to protect themselves from traffickers, how to help and report when they have suspicions of instances.  

The platform refers to the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings - a European treaty that provides clear and detailed guidance on combating this phenomenon and a series of rights for victims of trafficking. There is also a knowledge and child-friendly quiz.
