The Council of Europe launched a new cooperation project "Support for the improvement of the execution of the European Court judgments by Azerbaijan" on 21 October 2022 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The project aims at developing capacity of national justice stakeholders to enhance the implementation of human rights and fundamental freedoms in line with the European Convention on Human Rights, ensure timely and effective execution of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and other relevant instruments of the Council of Europe. Building upon the legal requirements enshrined in the Convention and the case law of the ECtHR, the project will support the revision of current national framework and practices to ensure facilitation of execution of judgments of the Strasbourg Court.

The launching conference was attended by more than fifty representatives from the Council of Europe, the Azerbaijani judicial authorities, international and national stakeholders, and civil society members.
