On 22-23 October 2025, the Council of Europe’s Intercultural Cities (ICC) Programme took part in the annual meeting of the Italian national network of intercultural cities (Rete Città del Dialogo) in Ravenna. Participants discussed the network’s 2025 activities, and exchanged on ways of drafting local anti-discrimination plans tailored to individual cities’ needs.

The meeting convened a broad range of representatives from Italian cities and regions, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE) and the National Office against Racial Discrimination (UNAR).

Concrete actions to combat discrimination and how to bring about systemic change at a municipal level within an intercultural framework were among the topics discussed. The two days combined theoretical concepts with practical exercises on the process of drafting local anti-discrimination strategies.

The meeting concluded with practical information on tools available to cities from the ICC Programme and other projects to help them draft and implement their strategies on inclusion and anti-discrimination.
