On 1 July 2025, Vesna CRNIĆ-GROTIĆ, member of the Committee of Experts of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages in respect of Croatia, participated in an exchange of views on the ratification and the updating of ratification instruments of the Charter organised by the Council of Europe’ Steering Committee on Anti-Discrimination, Diversity and Inclusion (CDADI). This exchange took place in the context of the preparation by the CDADI of a study on regional or national minority language protection and identification of good practices in member States.
Vesna CRNIĆ-GROTIĆ presented the main features of the Charter and stressed the importance of continuous dialogue between the national authorities, the representatives of the speakers and the Committee of Experts.
Several states shared their experience in extending their undertakings under the Charter and underlined the importance of this review exercise to maintain a good level of protection of regional or minority languages.
The CDADI Study should be available at the end of 2025.
