The European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages is the European convention for the protection and promotion of languages used by traditional minorities. Together with the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities it constitutes the Council of Europe's commitment to the protection of national minorities. The implementation of the Charter is monitored by a committee of independent experts. Ireland: experts & officials meet
Prof. Dr Vesna Crnic-Grotic and Dr Aleksandra Oszmianska-Pagett, representing the Bureau of the Committee of Experts of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, alongside Mr Sixto Molina, Head of the Secretariat of the Charter, participated on Friday in an exchange organised by the Irish authorities on the ratification of the Charter by Ireland. With the Irish officials present, they discussed current developments and how to move forward with ratification of the Charter.
