The Deputy Secretary General, Gabriella Battaini Dragoni and the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Luisella Pavan Woolfe, signed a new EU/CoE Joint Programme "Human rights and healthcare in prisons and other closed institutions in Georgia".
This is the first large-scale country-specific Joint Programme for Georgia since 2003 and it will be implemented over a 30 month period, with a total budget of €3.3 million. The contract was signed in the presence of Mr Irakli Gharibashvili, Minister of Interior of Georgia, during his visit to the Council of Europe.
