MOTIVATION

There is still an urgent need to respect the indivisibility of human rights. As we are now facing a crisis of a kind unprecedented since the end of the Cold War, it is vital that human rights, whether civil, social or societal, be implemented all over Europe.

Our most vulnerable fellow citizens are becoming more and more vulnerable.

The Human Rights Committee of the Conference of INGOs reflects all the differences and all the diversity of organised civil society. Thanks to the participatory status, it can co-operate with the other members of the Quadrilogue, namely the Committee of Ministers, the Parliamentary Assembly and the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities and commit itself for joint action using the various instruments of the Council of Europe.

I am ready and willing to contribute to the work of a team alongside the President which will have many challenges to tackle: promoting compliance with the European Convention on Human Rights, the European Social Charter and other relevant Council of Europe conventions by all member states, ensuring transparency and justice and combating all forms of discrimination.

Now, at the start of the 21st century, there is a greater need than ever for human rights, including social rights!

I have European experience and have been involved in the work of the Conference of INGOs for several years. I helped to represent it and promote it as Vice-chair.
It is in this spirit and with the aim of contributing as best as possible to our common work that I am applying for the post of Vice-chair of the Human Rights Committee
