„ Intercultural Understanding – Enhancing the co-operation between social studies teachers “

CONTEXT

    The general aim of the European Workshop is to familiarise participants with the concept of intercultural understanding and its implementation at secondary school level, explore the place of intercultural understanding in the framework of education for democratic citizenship and provide a model of co-operation intended to social subjects’ teachers dealing with this issue across the curricula.

    Topics covered will be:

    · Intercultural understanding, communication and learning;
    · Strategies for introducing intercultural understanding in the curriculum, in the classroom and at the whole school;
    · Teachers’ co-operation.

    The European workshop will also give participants an opportunity to develop models of co-operation in small groups, deriving from the Council of Europe instruments, Bulgaria’s experience as a country with an ever more expanding intercultural educational system, and from their own experience as well.

TARGET GROUP

    Secondary school teachers in history, civic education, philosophy, psychology /of pupils aged 14-18/, school psychologists, teachers in economics, geography, law and ethics, pedagogical advisors, school headmasters.
