Children in vulnerable situations: Making a change through citizenship and human rights education

On 20-21 May 2014, the 21st meeting of the network of coordinators for citizenship and human rights education will be held in Baku in the framework of the forthcoming Azerbaijan’s Chairmanship of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers (14 May-November 2014)

The meeting will be devoted to the topic of “Children in vulnerable situations: Making a change through citizenship and human rights education”. The participants will also discuss the ongoing work on development of competences for democracy and intercultural dialogue.

Seminar on “Children at the Centre of Education”

On 23 April, a seminar on “Children at the Centre of Education” will be held in Strasbourg. The seminar will include presentations by prominent thinkers, practical examples on the latest trends and creative approaches, and a round table discussion. More
 

Call for participants for the Summer Academy in Poland

The Summer Academy offers training in education for democratic citizenship and human rights (EDC/HRE) to teams of school heads, teachers and representatives from the local community, such as parents or NGOs.

The academy combines a one week face to face training in Warsaw/Sulejówek, Poland, and a 10 month online follow-up, as well as preparatory tasks. More

Comic strip competition on "Democracy and Human Rights at School"

This popular competition was closed for voting at 18:00 French time on Wednesday 5th March 2014 and we are delighted to announce that the winner is Number 251 submitted by Ioanna Symeonidou, of Karamintzas Anastasios School, Greece. The two runners up were number 78 Lis Pringle, of Lana Krumina School, Ireland and number 246 which was a joint project by Vera Kamtsi, Loutfie Gioura , Irini Dimaki, and Maria Daniilidou from Greece. Comic strip competition on "Democracy and Human Rights at School"

A comic strip competition on the theme “Democracy and human rights at school” was initiated by the Council of Europe in December 2013 within the framework of the EU/CoE Pilot Projects Scheme “Human Rights and Democracy in Action”.

More than 320 comic strip proposals were received.
