Building Partnerships for Citizenship and Human Rights Education

"Regretfully, democracy and human rights as such are sometimes the first victims of the economic crisis, and solutions to economic problems are sought exclusively based on economic criteria, and within purely economic paradigm. The challenge is then for all of us to uphold our common values and to promote new avenues for addressing the crisis though a prism of human dignity and societal well-being" - pointed our Mr Zoltan Taubner, Director of External Relations of the Council of Europe at the 1st meeting of the International Contact Group on citizenship and human rights education. The Contact Group was set up to ensure close cooperation among the partner institutions, and met for the 1st time on 30 March 2012. The aim of the present bi-annual newsletter is to provide an overview of the recent and forthcoming activities in this field.

Eurydice publication on Citizenship Education at School in Europe

On 31 May 2012 Eurydice published on its website (www.eurydice.org) a report on Citizenship Education at School in Europe. The report aims to capture how policies and measures relating to citizenship education have evolved over recent years in European countries. (more...)
