We underline the obligation of all Council of Europe member States, including Ukraine, to ensure media freedom and the safety of journalists, which is indispensable for the development of a genuine democracy. Any violence against or intimidation of journalists is unacceptable. We call on the Ukrainian authorities to investigate the attacks on Inter TV and its employees.

An alert regarding the attack on Inter TV was posted on the Council of Europe’s online platform to promote the safety and protection of journalists, as guaranteed by Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
