Back Trafficking in human organs: International conference in Santiago de Compostela

Santiago de Compostela (Spain) , 

The Council of Europe and the Spanish government will hold a high-level international conference on the fight against trafficking in human organs, during which the new Council of Europe Convention against Trafficking in Human Organs will be opened for signature. The treaty invites governments to criminalise trafficking in human organs, and to take measures to protect victims. The conference will bring together more than 200 government experts, judges, prosecutors, police, healthcare professionals, policy makers and academics to discuss how to better combat trafficking in human organs, and how to implement the treaty. Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland will deliver a speech at the opening of the conference.
