"Being a European today is defined by belonging to a community of destiny,  becoming after 60 years a community of purpose", highlighted today Gabriella Battaini Dragoni, while addressing a public debate on "What does it mean to be a European, what does it mean to be a European citizen?". The event focusing on "Democratic Citizenship and Diversity", has been organised by the Association of Schools of Political Studies of the Council of Europe, in co-operation with the City of Strasbourg and the ENA, in the framework of the Festival of Europe.

"This broader community strengthens our full national identities through common references, shared values and our institutions", underlined the Deputy Secretary General during the seminar with the participation of Catherine Lalumière (President of the European Association of the Schools of Political Studies and former Secretary General of the Council of Europe), Jo Leinen (MEP from Germany and President of the European Movement International), and Ana Gomes (MEP from Portugal).
