Mrs Battaini-Dragoni was born in Brescia, Italy on 13 August 1950. She was elected to the post of Deputy Secretary General in June 2012 and took up her duties in September 2012.

Deputy Secretary General presides over the 8th European Sport Medicine Congress

Strasbourg (Palais de la Musique et des Congrès), 

Gabriella Battaini Dragoni co-chaired the first plenary session of the 8th European Sport Medicine Congress, together with the French Minister of Sports, Youth, Popular Education and Community Life, Valerie Fourneyron.

"The Council of Europe aims to promote the development of sport in modern European society, through emphasising its positive values and by making sure that these positive values are fully respected", highlighted the Deputy Secretary General. 

Gabriella Battaini Dragoni also underlined the relevance of the Organisation's commitment on: "match-fixing", fight against violence and doping in sport. The event, organised with the patronage of the Secretary General, attracted 800 participants coming from more than 50 countries.
