A delegation of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities visited North Macedonia last week (28 September - 2 October 2026) to evaluate progress made in the protection of national minorities.
The delegation held meetings in Struga, Centar Zhupa, and Skopje with representatives of the government, local authorities, national minorities, as well as civil society to discuss the implementation of the Framework Convention in the country.
Following the visit, the Advisory Committee will draw up its Sixth Opinion on the implementation of the Framework Convention by North Macedonia, containing specific findings and recommendations for follow-up. This opinion is expected to be published in 2027.
