On 30 June 2026, the Hlyboka Community of Chernivtsi region hosted a local forum "Civic Activity in the Hlyboka Area: From History to the Present", which marked the completion of the local initiative "Discover the Community Within Yourself".
The project set out to establish a sustainable mechanism for continuous dialogue between local self-government bodies and residents through reporting, public discussions, online consultations, feedback tools and working groups for joint decision-making. The closing forum brought together representatives of the local authorities, СSOs, the academic community, volunteer and youth organisations, as well as delegations from twin towns in Romania and partner communities of the "Side by Side: United Communities" project.
Discussions focused on three topics: the interaction between the community and civil society, partnership between local self-government and the civic sector, and the historical and contemporary dimensions of civic activity in the region. To conclude, participants were presented with the renewed compositions of the Youth Council and the Public Council under the Hlyboka Village Council.
The local initiative "Discover the Community Within Yourself" is implemented within a Grant Agreement with the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine, in line with the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine "Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction" for 2023–2026 and the project "Strengthening multilevel governance and local democracy to support Ukraine's recovery", implemented by the Centre of Expertise for Multilevel Governance of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.
