The Council of Europe has recently published the guide, “Safe and dignified: Gender-sensitive voluntary return strategies for Ukraine”, to assist Ukraine in developing gender-sensitive voluntary return procedures, focused on the needs of women and girls affected by violence or at risk. It supports authorities and stakeholders in creating policies for safe and dignified return, promoting cross-sector collaboration and gender equality as central to Ukraine’s recovery and democratic rebuilding.
In addition to this guide, the Practical guide for public authorities on protecting the rights of migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking women and girls is now available in Ukrainian. It serves as a practical awareness-raising tool to support public authorities in the implementation of recommendation CM/Rec(2022)17 of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers to member states on protecting the rights of migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking women and girls.
Both publications were translated into Ukrainian within the framework of the project “Combating Violence against Women in Ukraine – Phase III” (COVAW-III) which is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction” 2023-2026.
