Council of Europe and the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of Prosecutors continue a series of interregional round tables for prosecutors

Council of Europe, in cooperation with the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of Prosecutors (QDCP), has continued a series of interregional round tables dedicated to prosecutors’ disciplinary responsibility and recruitment to prosecution bodies. Prosecutors from the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Poltava regions participated in the event. The event took place on 25-26 June 2026.

Participants discussed practical aspects of disciplinary proceedings and recruitment procedures for prosecutors, and engaged in practical exercises aimed at strengthening their understanding of the relevant processes.

Disciplinary responsibility of prosecutors is an essential element in ensuring the independence, integrity, and accountability of the prosecution service. At the same time, this issue remains one of the key areas of prosecutorial reform and of Ukraine’s implementation of its international commitments to the Council of Europe and the European Union.

Such activities contribute to strengthening the institutional capacity of prosecutorial governance bodies and to the implementation of European standards within the work of the prosecution service.

“These events provide an opportunity to openly discuss complex issues, in particular the balance between guarantees of prosecutorial independence and mechanisms of disciplinary proceedings. It is equally important to develop a shared understanding of Council of Europe standards on disciplinary responsibility, prosecutorial independence, and the role of the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of Prosecutors in ensuring these standards,” said Maksym Radzivon, Head of the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of Prosecutors.
