Back Webinar for judges and judicial assistants on the reasoning and drafting of criminal judgements is underway

A webinar on legal reasoning and legal drafting in criminal cases with the consideration of the European Human Rights Court’s case law and decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is taking place today and tomorrow, for judges and judicial assistants. 

The webinar is organised in cooperation with the Judicial and Prosecutorial Training Centres of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska (JPTCs). It is focused on how to give thorough arguments for factual and legal conclusions and how to apply the standards of reasoned judgment under the European Convention on Human Rights (the Convention). Examples of direct application of the Convention were discussed. 

The objective of the training is to improve the competences of the judges to interpret the legal provisions in the light of the decisions of the higher courts, the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights is a condition for insurances of the coherence of judicial practice.

The training led by an experienced judge-trainer and a certified trainer, who completed the Training of Trainers course held in 2019 within the project.

The training is organised under the project “Initiative for Legal Certainty and Efficient Judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina” funded by the Kingdom of Norway.
