On the eve of the European day for the protection of children from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse the Council of Europe project "Combating violence against children in Ukraine" held a two-day webinar for social workers "Support for mental health and psychosocial assistance for children in situations of armed conflict".

  • In total, during November 16-17, more than 700 more professionals of different specialties from all regions of Ukraine attended the webinar.

Over the course of two days, participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the basic principles of mental health and psychosocial support for children of different ages and abilities, as well as providing specialised psychological first aid to children. In addition, the webinar covered important topics such as supporting parents and guardians in crisis situations, the importance of self-care and support for professionals, and the prevention of vicarious trauma. The webinar materials were developed on the basis of a survey of social workers with more than 1,000 responses from social workers and adapted to existing needs.

The Council of Europe expresses its gratitude to The Ministry of Social Policy for support in holding the event, as well as Elayn Sammon, international expert of the Council of Europe, and Kateryna Borozdina, the national expert of the Council of Europe, who contributed to the development and delivery of the webinar.
