- Description
- The Abbey of Villiers is a former Cistercian Monastery founded in 1146. In 1796, the French revolutionary administration sold the buildings to be dismantled. The restoration works on the site began in 1893 and today, although in ruins, it is still an outstanding example of Cistercian architecture.
Since 2005, the management of the Abbey has been entrusted to the Villers-la-Ville Abbey Association. Its mission is to develop the attractiveness of the Abbey of Villers at a tourist, cultural, social, economic level in line with a sustainable development in synergy with local, regional and federal stakeholders, both public and private.
