Description
Administrative body of the Sobrarbe County (Huesca, Aragon).
The Sobrarbe-Pirineos UNESCO Global Geopark is managed by the County of Sobrarbe through the Patronato del Geoparque.
The Comarca de Sobrarbe shows evidence of settlement since the Palaeolithic, also with an unusual series of cave painting now preserved within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Monte Perdido. From the end of the Neolithic to the Bronze Age, settlers erected most of the local megalithic buildings, such as dolmens and stone circles (www.megalithicroutes.eu/en/members/megalithic-heritage-sobrarbe-region).
