On 26 August 2026, CETT Barcelona School of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy officially joined the University Network for Cultural Routes Studies after signing a general framework cooperation agreement with the European Institute of Cultural Routes (EICR).

CETT Barcelona School of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy is active in a range of fields relevant to Cultural Routes, including cultural tourism, cultural and creative industries, tourism product development, tourism economics and geography, heritage, and sustainability. It offers Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes, as well as specialised teaching modules in these areas.

Research activities are carried out through three specialised research groups: TURCiT (Tourism, Culture and Territory), GRATIR (Hospitality, F&B and Sustainability), and GRCiG (Gastronomy and Culinary Sciences), covering a broad range of topics relevant to tourism, culture, sustainability, hospitality, and gastronomy.

The institution also organises academic conferences exploring the links between cultural tourism, the creative industries, and Cultural Routes. CETT is a co-organiser of the annual International Conference on Literary and Film Tourism, whose next edition will take place in Groningen, the Netherlands, from 22 to 24 March 2027. It also organised the first International Congress on Gastronomic Tourism, held in Barcelona in November, 2025.

By joining the University Network for Cultural Routes Studies CETT aims to strengthen its scientific research on the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, encourage students to explore these themes in their academic work, participate in the annual activities of the Programme, and offer scientific expertise to certified Cultural Routes.
