Voltar “The thousand faces of Sherbrooke”: a project to emphasise the plural reality and the diversity of the city

Purpose: In order to make visible, appreciate and recognise its plural reality, Sherbrooke worked with the Humains de Sherbrooke collective to implement the inspiring “Sherbrooke of a Thousand Faces” project - to embrace differences, to learn to understand ourselves better as a community and to do so without judgement.

Structure: The city wants to offer its inhabitants the opportunity to affirm their belonging to a community that shares a common living space: whatever their origins, nationalities, religions or languages spoken, the inhabitants of the city have in common that they belong to Sherbrooke.

Process: This project goes out to meet the people of Sherbrooke and collects their testimonies to share a piece of their history, their journey, their aspirations, their passions-whatever they want to share. To date, 21 portraits/stories of residents representing the diversity of the city are available on the project website. More portraits will be added as they become available.

Impact: The impact of this project is reflected in the sense of belonging felt by each of the Sherbrooke residents who have taken part.
