Freedom of Expression

Since 2017, the Fojo Media Institute has been responsible for identifying, developing and implementing initiatives for journalists and editorial offices to prevent and manage exposure to threats and hatred. As a part of Linneaus University, the Institute is specialized in continuing education and trainings for journalists. In recent years, particular emphasis has been placed on freelance journalists and small editorial publishers, as well as on improving knowledge of gender differences and coping with attacks and harassment of a sexual nature. The Institute offers a series of courses focusing on safety in journalistic work, and lectures on the subject at the Police Academy. It also offers advice, training and a digital knowledge bank containing information and tools for journalists and editors.
