The ICSJ convened the second edition of its international meeting under the title From Risk to Resilience: a Multidisciplinary Approach to Global Journalist Safety. The conference gathered journalists, scholars, legal experts, civil-society representatives and public-policy actors for a major cross-sectoral dialogue on strengthening journalist safety in the face of evolving threats.
Key Outcomes:
- Emphasis on building resilience — not only reacting to threats, but proactively structuring support networks, legal protection, mental-health care, and institutional safeguards.
- Commitment to integrate journalists’ safety into wider media policy and legislative reform, including protective protocols for digital threats, legal harassment, and conflict reporting.
- Strengthened cooperation between media professionals, academia, civil society, and state institutions — confirming ICSJ’s role as a hub for coordinated action.
By turning academic knowledge and field experience into actionable strategies, this conference marked a shift for ICSJ: from a training and research centre to an operational platform capable of shaping national and international protections for journalists.
