European Route of Historic Thermal Towns: 4th European Thermal Heritage Day

On 21 October, EHTTA's 4th European Thermal Heritage Day, hosted by the Hessian State Capital of Wiesbaden, took place as a hybrid event online from the Christian Zais Saal, Kurhaus Wiesbaden. The first of a series of annual events on the "Therapeutic Landscape", the European Thermal Heritage Day was on the subject of "Thermal Urbanism". It examines Europe's cultural thermal heritage and focuses on its importance, protection and the associated challenges, through presentations and debate.

The opening of the conference was led by Mr. Oliver FRANZ, Mayor of Wiesbaden. Mr. José Manuel Baltar Blanco, EHTTA President Mr. Klaus-Peter WILLSCH, Member of the German Parliament and Mr. Stefano DOMINIONI, Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe and Director of the European Institute of Cultural Routes.

EHTTA was founded in 2009 and first certified as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe in 2010. It is a very active member of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Programme, implementing innovative initiatives in the fields of research, enhancement of European heritage, youth involvement, artistic practice and sustainable cultural and tourism development. Steadily growing, it started with six founders and has now a total of 46 members across 18 countries. Europe’s thermal towns are renowned centres of cultural and health tourism, and they continue to be attractive places to live with a high quality of life.
