Valsaintes Abbey is a former Cistercian monastery founded in 1180. After the French Revolution, the buildings were used as farms, stables, sheepfolds, resulting in the degradation of the entire complex. The site was bought and the abbatial church completely restored by the ATHRE Association (Art, Tradition, Histoire, Recherche Environnement), which set up an ecological garden (www.cister.net/abbayes/fr/127/valsaintes).
