The consequences of the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine will be on the agenda of an extraordinary plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly (PACE). All five political groups in the Assembly have requested an urgent debate on this topic.
The President of the Assembly has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to address the Assembly by visioconference (Monday at noon - to be confirmed).
A communication from the Committee of Ministers and an exchange of views with the Organisation’s Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić are scheduled on Monday afternoon. Tuesday will be given over to the urgent debate.
On 25 February the Committee of Ministers decided to suspend the Russian Federation’s rights of representation, following an exchange of views with Assembly members at a meeting of the Joint Committee, which brings together both government representatives and parliamentarians from the Council of Europe.
