We are thrilled to announce the latest addition to the ICC and family, the second this year, by welcoming the city of Valencia into the Spanish Network of Intercultural Cities (RECI). Valencia is home to more than 140 000 citizens from all over the world, with a particular presence of EU and Latin American Countries. Spain’s third largest city, with a population of 800 000 (1.6 Million if including its metropolitan zone), Valencia is a dynamic manufacturing town that also welcomes millions of visitors each year who seek to enjoy its centenary traditions by the Mediterranean shores.

Valencia is also at the forefront of the intercultural approach to immigration, both through its current policies, such as the Municipal Plan of Immigration and Interculturality 2019-2022 and the Local Council of Immigration and Interculturality. The latter offers immigrants a platform to be directly involved in the drafting and evaluation of the city’s intercultural policies.
