The Universitat de València is now officially a member of the University Network for Cultural Routes Studies, as of April 2026.
The university signed a general framework cooperation agreement with the European Institute of Cultural Routes (EICR) and joins 40+ other universities in the programme’s University Network.
The university’s areas of expertise include heritage, tourism, territorial management, local development, cultural cooperation, history, and new technologies.
Universitat de València has developed several programmes and projects in the domain of cultural heritage and the cultural routes. A dedicated course on “Migration, Culture, and Development” within the Master’s in Development Cooperation programme includes sessions related to the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe as of 2026-2027 academic year.
The university’s faculty is already closely and actively involved with the Cultural Routes Programme, notably the European Route of Historic Pharmacies and Medicinal Gardens and has developed conferences, congresses and seminars on the topic of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.
The University Network for Cultural Routes Studies aims to foster research on the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, encourage students to explore these themes in their academic work, participate in the annual activities of the Programme, and offer scientific expertise where needed.
