In the introduction to this course you read that the notion of 'intercultural encounter' is central to the Autobiography of Intercultural Encounters (AIE). One of the underlying assumptions of the AIE is that, when an individual encounters a member of another cultural group and critically reflects on that experience, a process of self-examination may be initiated which involves thinking about identity. In this first module you explore the concept of self-identity and how the AIE encourages users to write about themselves.
