Cllr Heather McVey was elected to North Lanarkshire Council for her home town of Kilsyth in 2012. She graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 1995 with a degree in Community Education has had a career in local authorities and the third sector in a variety of community learning and development roles having particular interest in community capacity building and youth work.  Heather is a member of the NLC leadership team and is Depute Leader of the Labour Group at the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (CoSLA) and represents CoSLA in the Council of Europe, Congress of Local Authorities.
