Sarah Keating joined the Council of Europe’s Education Department in 1994 and is now Head of the Division of Co-operation and Capacity Building. She is responsible for projects to increase the capacity of national education systems to provide quality education, develop competences for a democratic culture, fight discrimination, support integrity and transparency in education and combat extremism and violence in schools. She spent three years (2002-2005) leading the CoE’s education team in Sarajevo and still travels regularly to the region. Ms Keating holds degrees in international studies from Vassar and Johns Hopkins universities. She is the mother of two teenagers and enjoys yoga and hiking.
