Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan

 

SARSEMBAYEV Yerlan was born in 1975, in Almaty Region. He is a graduate of the Almaty Institute of Power Engineering and Communications (in 1997) as well as Humanities University named of D. A. Kunaev (in 2000).

Having started his career in the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Mr Sarsembayev held positions while serving in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan between 1998-2002 as well as worked as a Consultant, Head of Sector of the Department of Defense and Law Enforcement of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan between 2002-2005.

He held positions of Deputy Head of the Department for Interaction with the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security as well as Head of the Department for Interaction with the Committee on Social and Cultural Development of the Office of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan between 2005-2011.

From 2011 till 2016, he worked as Deputy Head and Head of the Legal Department of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2016 to 2017, Mr Sarsembayev was the Head of the Department for Interaction with the Committee on Social and Cultural Development and Science of the Office of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Also, he held positions of Deputy Head of the Office of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Head of the Department for Interaction with the Committee on International Relations, Defense and Security of the Office of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan between 2017-2019 and 2019-2022.

From 2023-2025, he was the Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In January 2025 Mr Sarsembayev was appointed as the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
