By letter dated 10 July 2026, Mr Taras Kachka, the then Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, requested an urgent opinion of the Venice Commission on the draft law “On Amendments to the Law ‘On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges’ and certain other laws concerning the selection procedures for members of the High Qualification Commission of Judges and the High Council of Justice”.
The Urgent Opinion, prepared jointly with the Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe (DGI), was issued on 25 September 2026 and will be submitted for endorsement at the October Plenary Session of the Venice Commission (Venice, 9-10 October 2026).
