On 10 and 11 February 2026, a delegation of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe conducted a visit to Lima, Peru, in the framework of the preparation of the Opinion on a set of adopted as well as pending constitutional and legislative reforms regarding the judiciary. The Opinion was requested by Ms Janet Tello Gilardi, President of the Judicial Branch and the Supreme Court of Peru.
The delegation of the Venice Commission had exchanges of views with representatives of the Congress, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Justice Board, the Constitutional Court, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Supreme Court, as well as with representatives of civil society and international organisations present in Peru.
The draft Opinion will be submitted for adoption at the 146th Plenary Session of the Venice Commission (6-7 March 2026).
