Following the request by the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe is preparing a draft Opinion on the draft Law on Media, as well as the amendments to the Audiovisual Media Services Code and to the Law on Advertising, for adoption at the 143rd Plenary Session of the Venice Commission (13-14 June 2025).

On 8 and 9 May 2025, the rapporteurs conducted a visit to Chișinău, during which they held a series of meetings with the representatives of the Parliament, the Audiovisual Council, the Ministry of Culture, the public broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova, the Central Election Commission, civil society and the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova.

The draft Joint Follow-up Opinion is prepared under the Quick Response Mechanism (QRM), in the framework of the European Union and Council of Europe joint programme Partnership for Good Governance, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
