On 28 May 2026, a delegation of the Venice Commission held a series of online meetings in preparation for the Joint Opinion of the Venice Commission and the Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law (DGI) of the Council of Europe on the draft legislative amendments on the integrity checks and the evaluation of judges. This opinion was requested by Mr Vladislav Cojuhari, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Moldova.

The delegation held exchanges with the Minister of Justice, Members of Parliament, and representatives of the Superior Council of Magistracy, College for the Selection and Evaluation of Judges, and Supreme Court of Justice, as well as with the representatives of the Judicial Vetting Commission. It also met with civil society organisations, professional associations of judges, as well as representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova and the European Commission.

The draft opinion is scheduled for discussion and adoption at the June Plenary Session of the Venice Commission (12-13 June 2026).
