On 24 and 25 June 2026, a Venice Commission delegation visited Valletta in preparation for the Urgent Opinion on the Draft Amendment to the Administrative Justice Act requested on 12 May 2026 by the then Minister of Justice.
The delegation held exchanges with the Minister for Justice, Research and Innovation, representatives of the parliamentary majority and the opposition and the Parliamentary Ombudsman. Meetings were also organised with professional associations, civil society organisations, academia and international partners.
The Venice Commission will issue the urgent opinion in the coming weeks. The urgent opinion is scheduled for endorsement at its forthcoming October Plenary Session of the Venice Commission (9-10 October 2026).
