By letter dated 27 March 2026, Mr Pawel Bartoszek, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Icelandic Parliament, requested, on behalf of the Committee, an Urgent Opinion of the Venice Commission on “the compatibility with international standards of the referendum question of Iceland about EU accession negotiations”.
The Urgent Opinion was issued on 22 April 2026 and will be submitted for endorsement at the June 2026 Plenary Session of the Venice Commission (Venice, 12-13 June 2026).
