By letter dated 29 June 2026, Ms Elvira Kovács, Chairperson of the Committee on the Honouring of Obligations and Commitments by Member States (Monitoring Committee) of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, requested an urgent opinion of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.

The request concerns certain amendments as provided by Greek Law 5275/2026 of 6 February 2026 to the Greek Law 4939/2022 (Asylum Code) and the Greek Immigration Code.

The urgent opinion will be issued in due course and submitted for endorsement at the October 2026 Plenary Session of the Venice Commission.
